As the rest of the globe celebrated the 2021 World Environment Day, Churches across the City of Columbia in Missouri trooped out in their hundreds to share God’s love by serving the community, side by side.
Working under the banner ForColumbia, volunteers from Christian churches throughout Columbia served individuals, non-profit organizations and other public venues in a city-wide day of service.
Some volunteers were involved in the cleaning and polishing of waste bins across various streets.
Others re-painted crosswalks and roads, hung sun shades, painted colorful stencils, and planted tomatoes, peppers, and strawberries.
Not done yet, some volunteers rallied to build little libraries acorss small cottages.
Indeed, ForColumbia helped to bring people together to serve their neighbors as well as protect their environment.
The theme for this year’s World Environment Day was ‘Ecosystem Restoration.’
